Cultural sites

Puerto de la Cruz is also an ideal destination for holding congresses, meetings and all kinds of events, that’s why it has become a preferent place for many companies. There are many hotels that have spaces dedicated to tourism congresses, with events as globally important as the Papagayos of Tenerife Congress, which is celebrated every year in Hotel Botánico. Besides, the city has areas specifically dedicated to congresses as well.

The Castle Cultural Space

This place acts as a constant exhibition of art, sculpture and photography. It also hosts many classical music concerts, recitals, talks and all sorts of cultural events.

Institute of Hispanic Studies

Founded in 1953, the Institute of Hispanic Studies is a cultural reference point of the island and has mainly dedicated its studies to the link between the Canary Islands and America. Eduardo Westerdahl Museum of Contemporary Art, currently located in la Casa de la Real Aduana, also belongs to this institute.

In the main hall, conferences, recitals, presentations, exhibitions and films are constantly being held. In addition to this, other events are held annually: Spanish for Foreign learners (Jan-Mar); Young Researchers and Designers (Apr): Commemorative Act for Hispanic day (11 and 12 Oct) Telesforo Bravo Science week (Nov); American History (Dec); Cajacanarias Foundation “Cineforum” (every last Tuesday of the month); plus exhibitions and conferences throughout the year.

Timanfaya Theatre

An old cinema which has been restored to create a versatile cultural space, with a steady programme from the art and music scene and on some occasions the world of cinema. There are also some intense workshops on offer and performing arts classes.
